Care Leavers Bursary Application - for students who  are on an apprenticeship linked to Achievement Training. 

All other students, must go thought their own college or training provider. 

Apprentices are eligible to receive a £3,000 bursary payment if they have been in the care of a UK local authority.

We will ask you for evidence to confirm that you are a care leaver. A letter or email from a local authority appointed personal advisor ( social worker ) or support worker.

By applying for this bursary you understand that you are eligible for and would like to receive a bursary as a care leaver.

You must not apply if you have been paid a care leavers bursary before. This only includes the care leavers bursary paid by the Education and Skills Funding Agency; other local incentives do not apply.

The Care Leavers Bursary is a one-off payment. An eligible apprentice must only receive this payment once. Therefore, an individual must not receive this funding again if they progress or start another apprenticeship. 

By completing this form you are providing signed consent to allow your employer to be informed that you have been in the care of the local authority and your declaration will be used to generate additional payments.

Where you are aged 19 to 24-year-old and you do not wish for your employer to be informed that you were previously in care, please answer the correct question below.

 

The bursary payment, due to the apprentice will be generated as follows;

60 days after the apprentice starts, £1,000 will be paid if the apprentice is still undertaking their apprenticeship;

120 days after the apprentice starts, £1,000 will be paid if the apprentice is still undertaking their apprenticeship;

300 days after the apprentice starts, £1,000 will be paid if the apprentice is still undertaking their apprenticeship.

Important, for Achievement Training to process any payments we will need your bank account information.

Before completing this section please be aware that:

  • The account must be in the name of the apprentice and not the parent, guardian or parent. Exceptions can be made where the parent or carer has power of attorney for the apprentice (evidence to be provided).
  • The account must be able to take bank transfer payments. 
  • Payments cannot be made to Post Office accounts which only take government benefits.
  • Payments will be made within 30 days of receipt.
