Childcare student progresses from an apprenticeship at L2 to L3

Case Studies

Nicole Hoggarth

Nicole has been with Achievement Training for 2 back to back courses. She started with her Level 2 childcare course as an apprentice and completed this just as Covid hit and sent everyone into Lockdown.
Nicole was a very quiet individual who worked regularly with her tutor to develop her confidence, self esteem and her childcare knowledge. At the start of her first course Nicole found it difficult to discuss
her ideas with the staff and tutor and together they worked hard on her communication skills with adults and children alike. During her apprenticeship Nicole went through some major personal issues
and some personal health issues that impacted her appearance, again denting her confidence. Despite this Nicole continued to attend her placement and find ways of dealing with her circumstances so that it
didn’t impact her job or her relationship that was growing with her children, staff and parents. Nicole completed her apprenticeship in Lockdown, maintaining weekly contact with her assessor and being one
of the first learners to go through End Point Assessment via video link. Nicole passed and this developed her confidence as she was offered a paid role with her employer. Nicole regularly saw her old tutor as she continued to work with other learners in Nicole’s setting and after a short break in learning decided to take on the EYE3 Loan.

Nicole has thrived as a L3 learner and her confidence is outstanding, as she now helps mentor new staff, has become a keyworker engaging with parents daily and leads whole group activities.

Nicole is now considering on doing her level 4 EYAP in the future.
