What you will learn
You will develop and demonstrate a range of technical skills and behaviours that supports competence in managerial and executive positions. This includes being able to identify administrative problems, being able to resolve administrative problems, being able to organise the work of an administrative function, being able to manage administrative workflows and being able to use both written and verbal communication in business . You will develop your own personal growth and engagement, and develop the specific types of knowledge to underpin learners competence as well as the wider sector-related knowledge.This includes the principles underpinning the resolution of administrative problems, the knowledge related to the management of an administrative function and the knowledge related to business communication models, systems and processes

Ideal if
You deliver administrative support services and contribute at a strategic level. You may lead or manage a team, or want to move on to such a role. You need a range of administrative and management skills, such as budget management and promoting innovation.

What to expect
The Level 4 NVQ Diploma in Business Administrations (RQF) qualification is suitable for learners who serve in a variety of positions such as administrative officers, senior administration managers, and senior personal assistants and secretaries. This Level 4 Business Administration qualification provides learners with the skills, experience, understanding, and competence necessary to function effectively in a high-level business administration position. Learners will understand business values, plus some opportunities to apply those to personal and professional growth. Additionally, learners can learn and demonstrate management responsibilities through various activities such as resource management, negotiating, agreeing on budgets, and promoting innovation and change, and resolving administrative problems.

Work placements
All learners are encouraged to complete a number of hours at a good quality work placement to enhance their knowledge and skills in the Business industry. The Business Services Department have very good established links with lots of local businesses and will be able to support you to find a great placement.

What next
The course will accredit and develop your skills and knowledge in business administration. It will help you to secure long-term employment and to progress to job roles such as:

  • Business Development Manager
  • Executive Assistant
  • Project Manager

What it feels like to be a student
This course is on a 1-1 basis. Support staff are on site such as pastoral care, finance and careers advice.

Salary and Career expectations
Progression opportunities include either further study or direct job opportunities in Business Administration, Marketing, Business Management, Secretarial, Personal Assistant, Media or public relations roles. At present there are 509 annual business support related jobs available within the local labour market (this being above the current national average for demand!).

Salaries can range from a starting wage of £22,000 to £80,000 for higher level roles.


For anyone over 19 years old and over the course is delivered on a one to one basis with an assigned tutor, using a blended method of delivery, which will include; monthly meetings, and remote leaning.

Duration – up to 12 months.
Choose your own units to suit your job role or future career plans.
The course is very flexible with a mixture of written assessments as well as professional discussions, depending on what style you prefer.
This course does not need employer to sign off so can be completed in your own time.

Attendance days
This is a RORO course, meaning you can start the qualification at any point throughout the year.

This qualification is designed for learners who are working or would like to work, in a senior business administration role within any sector or industry.

It’s ideal for those who have worked in an entry level business administration role or who’ve been working for any period of time and are looking to further develop their managerial skills.
