Maths Functional skills are vital skills we all need to develop and keep using throughout life. Almost every job requires the ability to problem solve confidently.
Do you need to update your Maths skills?
If so, we can offer support and training in our centrally located employment and progression centre.
Functional Skills qualifications are intended for customers who want to improve their numeracy skills. Achieving this qualification will increase your confidence and motivation, help you gain skills that will be valuable in the workplace / further learning, while also supporting you to develop the practical skills you need in life.
Mathematical Functional Skills courses are available at Entry Level 2, Entry Level 3, Level 1 and Level 2. Following an initial assessment of your current skills, an individual programme of learning will be mapped out for you. Your tutor will support you every step of the way until you are ready to sit the Functional Skills exam.
The course can last anything between 1 – 4 months, depending on your ability and when you feel confident to complete your exam. Attendance is a mix of centre study and home study. Flexible appointments are available to suit you and your commitments.
The centre is open Monday – Thursday, 9am – 5pm and 9am – 4pm on a Friday.
Cost: Functional Skills English and Maths courses are fully funded, so free if you’re unemployed or working.

We’ve made it easier than ever for learners to achieve by using a mix of online and classroom led teaching.
You will be asked to take a Basic Skills Assessment so we can properly assess your starting point.
Fully funded up to and including level 2, for individuals aged 19 and over, who have not previously attained a GCSE grade 4 (C)
