Finance Manager

A rare opportunity has arisen to fill the role of Finance Manager for our vocational training provider based in Plymouth city centre

Salary: £26,000 – £28,000 per annum based on experience & qualifications

Hours: 36.5 per week, Mondays to Fridays

 

The Job Role:

To lead the in-house Finance Team, managing the day-to-day accounting of the company, including the production of monthly management accounts, preparation of statutory year end accounts, controlling student finance systems and running monthly payroll, working closely with the Board of Directors.  As ATL is a wholly-owned subsidiary of City College Plymouth, you will liaise with and be supported by a member of the parent company, meeting on a regular basis to ensure all accountabilities are completed.

In addition to management accounts, student finance and payroll, the post-holder will be responsible for a range of tasks, including, but not limited to:

  • Daily cash flow updates to assist in accurate cash flow management;
  • Bank reconciliations;
  • Preparation and submission of quarterly VAT Returns;
  • Production of monthly management accounts for the board;
  • Preparation of statutory year end accounts and liaison with external auditors;
  • Preparation of annual budgets;
  • Processing of monthly payroll;
  • Maintenance of accounting processes and procedures;
  • Maintenance of accounting system (Sage);
  • Management of one team member;
  • Debtor and Creditor management;
  • Balance sheet reconciliations;
  • Fixed assets;
  • Prepayments;
  • Cash Handling.

The Candidate:

Qualifications Applicants will be either AAT qualified or CCAB part qualified. QBE will also be considered with the required experience. Significant experience with Microsoft Office (particularly strong Excel skills) and Sage Line 50/Payroll is essential.
Knowledge The ideal candidate will be an adaptable accountant with excellent communication skills and proven experience in preparing management accounts from start to finish with commentaries and experience in forecasting/budgeting.
