“Before I started working at ATL, I felt lost. I was a 17 year old, who had just finished their schooling and didn’t know where to turn. After a few false starts, I was offered the position of Apprentice Admin Assistant at ATL.”
During her time in the MIS department, Maisie completed the Level 2 Business Administration apprenticeship and started Level 3. Changing teams, she moved to support the Animal Care department with their administration duties and finished her Level 3 with the support of both the MIS and Animal Care teams.
“Working in a curriculum department allowed me to interact more with learners. I was the first person that visitors saw when they came into the department and, over time, learners saw me as more than an administrator but as part of the team that could listen and provide them with advice and guidance. This is what encouraged me to ask my manager about the steps I would need to take to become a tutor/assessor.”
Maisie soon completed a Level 3 Mentoring apprenticeship, including Level 3 Animal Care, Level 2 ICT and Level 1 Safeguarding and is now a full-time Animal Care Trainee Tutor/Assessor.
“My 4 year journey at ATL has been incredible and rewarding. I have received the best support from all my colleagues, helping me to achieve things I didn’t know were possible. I am now part of the most welcoming, driven team and look forward to coming into work every day to discover new challenges. I cannot thank everyone at ATL enough for everything they have done for me. They have turned a confused 17 year old girl into a confident 21 year old, who has finally found her feet in the wonderful world of education. I wouldn’t be who I am today without ATL.”
