Apprentice IT Technician
Exciting opportunity to develop and expand your IT knowledge and skills with a Level 3 Apprenticeship!
Working directly with the IT & Operations Team at our Plymouth City Centre base, you will help support our teaching teams with a range of technical and customer service that will really help kick start your career in IT.
Starting salary: £180 per week
Hours: 34 hours per week (including weekly day-release for training)
The Job Role:
The job role here at ATL is quite diverse, so you’ll get a really useful range of experience. Full on-the-job training will be given and you will be mentored by an experienced Team Co-ordinator, with additional support from the rest of our friendly Central Services team and specialist Technical Tutors.
- You’ll be learning how to provide 1st, 2nd and 3rd line technical support and customer service (in-person, via telephone or online/remote) to Achievement Training customers, visitors and guests, as directed by the IT/OPS Co-ordinator.
- As part of the team, you’ll perform network trouble shooting to isolate and diagnose common network problems and help manage upgrades to the various systems used within ATL (hardware, software, networking).
- Training on and off the job will enable you to install, upgrade, update and configure network, printing systems, phone systems and software.
We’ll support you to develop your skills, knowledge and experience as you work towards your Level 3 qualification.
Your weekly day-release for study will be right here at Achievement Training in Plymouth city centre.
Progression opportunities may include advanced and higher apprenticeships and with experience, you could become a senior IT Technician or specialise in an area such as Networking or Cyber Security.

Qualifications
- GCSE or equivalent English (Grade 4) essential
- GCSE or equivalent Maths (Grade 5) essential
Things to consider
A certain level of physical fitness is required, as the role will include lifting and moving equipment and setting up hardware, as well as occasional moving or re-arranging of furniture to support maintenance works.
