What you will learn

The purpose of this qualification is to increase learners’ knowledge and awareness of children and young people’s mental health.
This level 2 qualification is nationally recognised and is accredited by NCFE.

By completing the qualification, you will develop knowledge of:

  • Children and young people’s mental health in context
  • Mental health problems commonly associated with children and young people
  • The impact of mental ill-health on children and young people
  • The support available to maintain mental wellbeing in children and young people.

This course is roll on roll off meaning you can begin the course at any time.

What next

This qualification supports progression to employment and progression within employment in health and social care.

Attendance days

A 10 week course which takes place in the centre every Monday starting at 9.30 until 3pm

It is suitable for you if you are looking to increase your knowledge of children and young people’s mental health.

You don’t need any previous experience or skills, this is a starting point to help you increase your understanding and be able to find ways to support children.

This course is delivered throughout the year, which gives you lots of opportunities to join.

Level 2​ courses fully funded if you are: ​
  • are 19-23 and do not already have a level 2 qualification
  • are 24+ and unemployed or earn below the National Living Wage annually (£20,319 from April 2023)
