Overcoming Challenges: A Learner’s Journey to a Distinction in Her Apprenticeship

Apprenticeships
Here is feedback from a student, who recently successfully completed a Childcare Appreticeship with Achievement Training Ltd.
When I began my apprenticeship, I was understandably nervous.  Starting a new role can be overwhelming but for someone with dyslexia, it came with additional challenges.
I was worried about keeping up with the written work, completing the EPA and meeting expectations in a fast-paced environment.  Despite my initial apprehension, I approached the apprenticeship with determination and an open mind.  With tailored support, such as assistive technology and regular one-on-one guidance with my tutor, I quickly found my stride.  I excelled in hands-on learning, building strong practical skills and forming meaningful connections with colleagues and the children in my setting.
Over time, my confidence grew as I realised my unique strengths, such as creativity, problem-solving and determination were just as valuable as my academic skills.  By the end of the programme, I had not only overcome my initial fears but also completed the apprenticeship successfully achieving a distinction, demonstrating resilience and the ability to thrive with the right support in place.
