Diploma in Beauty Therapy Level 3

What you will learn
This qualification covers a wide range of topics that cover the skills and knowledge required to work within the beauty industry. You will study the following units: body massage treatments, Indian head massage, carry out massage using pre-blended aromatherapy oils and Stone therapy treatments. Also body and facial electrical treatments and self-tanning services.

Ideal if
You want to gain the skills to work effectively as a beauty therapist, specialising in massage treatments and advanced facials. The structure of this qualification provides learners with the flexibility to develop their own knowledge, understanding and skills depending upon their designated pathway.

What to expect
You will learn in our training centre within a realistic working environment, by the end of your qualification you’ll be demonstrating your skills on paying clients. For each unit, your assessor observes and asks questions as you perform tasks to assess your practical skills. Your understanding of the theory will be tested by the completion of online tests.

What next
On completion of this qualification, you can progress onto higher level qualifications in the Beauty sector or progress into employment within the Industry. You could move into employment as a senior beauty therapist in a range of settings, including a commercial salon, commercial spa, independent/ self-employed mobile or home-based setting, or beauty retail

Wider Curriculum activities
You can expect to meet industry experts from Dermalogica. They will provide certified specialised training for you. Completion of this will give you access to the Dermalogica partnership programme training centre in Exeter.

Work placements
Work placements are part of the programme; as you develop your skills you can practice them on real clients. All assessments take place in our salons. Students practice on each other to start with before moving on to real clients.

What it feels like to be a student
Class group sizes are between 10 to 20 students, with a dedicated tutor. Support staff are on site, such as pastoral care, finance and careers advice. “I like my group in College. This course has helped me to move forward from where I was and my Tutor is the best! Students come from a variety of schools across Plymouth, they all help each other out and develop a really good bond over the year encouraging each other to achieve, most of students never want to leave and stay on to do the full range of beauty courses.

09:00 – 16:00 Tuesday and Thursday Term time only.

Salary and Career expectations
The opportunity to rent a work-station or treatment room is often an option along with working from home, both of these options allow the employees to set their own schedule. Nationally there has been a big increase in the number of people who work in the Beauty sector. Work opportunities are global and varied. Forexample you could be working in a commercial salon or as an independent, you could also work on cruise ships or in 4* and 5* hotel and spa facilities.

Uniform requirements
Once you have enrolled we will order beautiful tunics for you to wear each day, you will need to provide black trousers and black shoes, you really will look like a Beauty Professional.
