What does this qualification cover?

This course is perfect for learners who either wish to start their career in the care industry or may already work in the care. Being fully recognised, the qualification is a benchmark at level 2, which allows you to show your knowledge to employers within the care sector.

How is this qualification structured?

This course is comprised of two parts, the Certificate and the Extended Diploma, which can provide a strong foundation of learning that can be used to progress your career.

This qualification covers a range of key subject areas in health and social care and includes a bank of optional units, allowing learners to pursue an interest in chosen subject areas.

  • Communication in Health and Social Care
  • Working in Health and Social Care

  • Creative Activities in Health and Social Care
  • Health and Well-Being
  • Dementia Awareness
  • Infection Prevention and Control in Health and Social Care
  • End of Life Care
  • Learning Disability
  • Anatomy and Physiology for Health and Social Care

What next?

Upon completion, the qualification will support progression into a range of job roles in the health and social care sector, including:

  • care support workers in adult residential settings
  • healthcare assistants in community, primary care and acute health environments
  • care support workers in domiciliary services, supported living or day services
  • community-based support workers.
  • look to progress into roles including care support worker, social worker and care assistant.

You could also go onto complete a higher level qualification or apprenticeship in Health and Social Care.

Salary and Career expectations:

The average Carer salary in the United Kingdom is £24,103 per year or £12.36 per hour. Entry level positions start at £21,450 per year while most experienced workers make up to £35,271 per year.

How long do I have to study?

Starting on 10/09/2024 – Finishing on 29/04/2024

This will be classroom based, one day a week, every Tuesday.

 

No formal qualification required, everyone is welcome to apply.

New entrants will be invited to attend the centre to complete the enrolment paperwork and meet your tutors.
