You helped to build her confidence and self-belief

This was received from a parent wanting to express their gratitude – we are humbled and grateful to have it written out in black and white.

“Good afternoon Paul.

I would like to thank you all at Achievement Training for the support, care and quality of teaching that my daughter experienced when she was with you last year.

You helped to build her confidence and self belief and she is now in a position where she has received 4 University offers including Exeter University – part of the prestigious Russel Group.

I do not think she would be in this position without her time with you.”

This type of outcome is not a one off, it happens every term – taking steps to further your potential and keep trying does work. Making positive choices always has benefits.

Tiana’s Customer Service Apprenticeship Experience

Before I started my apprenticeship I was studying at sixth form, however, I decided that the classroom-setting wasn’t for me and wanted to look into starting an apprenticeship.  I didn’t know a lot about apprenticeships at the time but thought this might be a better option for me.

I met with Clare from Achievement Training and with her help and guidance I found a suitable apprenticeship for me. She ran through the options which most suited the role I wanted to pursue, these being apprenticeships in Customer Service and Business Administration.

We decided on the Customer Service apprenticeship first so that I could gain more knowledge and confidence within the sector I was working in and then I could progress onto the Business and Administration apprenticeship.

I started my Customer Service Apprenticeship at the end of 2021, I have recently received my results which were Distinctions. Clare has really helped me gain confidence throughout my Customer Service apprenticeship which has also helped me in my day-to-day job, she has always been there to give me feedback when required and also given me advice on what I can do to improve.

I am now starting my Level 3 Business and Admin apprenticeship, thanks to Achievement Training and Clare I feel more than ready to start this course and learn even more about this role.

Starting an apprenticeship was the best decision for me as it means I can learn whilst I am on the job and I also know I have support from my Manager, Colleagues, Clare and Achievement Training.

Degree Apprenticeships

Did you know that the traditional university route is not the only option for you to get qualified to a degree level? Degree apprenticeships offer an excellent route for those who want to avoid high student debt, earn a salary and start working in your career straight away!

There are so many opportunities out there right now, from a Global Markets Apprentice at the Bank of America, Sales Operations at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, a Trainee Nursing Associate with the NHS, a Police Officer to a Nuclear Scientist and more! There are more apprenticeship opportunities than ever before at some of the best companies in the world.

But what is a degree apprenticeship?

Higher apprenticeships include qualifications at level 4 and above. They can be suitable for those looking to progress from level 3 qualifications, including advanced apprenticeships and T Levels. Degree apprenticeships are offered by universities and other higher education providers. They contain either a full degree or degree-level qualification and go up to master’s level (which is post-graduate).

Typically, a degree apprenticeship can take 3-6 years to complete depending on the course level. Most of your time will be spent working, but you will also be studying part-time at university; for example, you could spend one or two days a week at university studying. Your time will usually be divided between 20% studying and 80% working.

Entry requirements

This will depend on the apprenticeship level and the employer, but generally they will ask for at least a level 3 qualification. You can achieve this by completing A-Levels, T-Levels or an apprenticeship. Employers also look for other skills, such as communication, leadership and passion.

Applying for a degree apprenticeship

To apply for an apprenticeship, you will need to apply in the same way as a job. This includes submitting an application which includes your CV and a cover letter. There are vacancies throughout the year, with deadlines for each position, so it’s a good idea to keep an eye on the industry vacancies which are out there and make sure you get your application in time.

Rose’s Experience Studying English and Employability

Achievement Training allowed me to hone the edge of my skills. During my Level 2 English and Level 1 Employability courses, I sharpened my knowledge with the help of Rita Melville, Mark Coombes, and Jill Williams. Within a few months I was taking my exams for English, I passed each one with high scores. I found secondary school difficult as it wasn’t a nice learning environment, and they hardly did anything up until the end of my education to support me, and even then it didn’t help.

During the summer holiday of 2022, my family contacted Achievement Training, and by Mid-September, I was enrolled within my courses. I am now searching for I.T apprenticeships and expect to be employed within a few months.

Achievement Training is a fantastic place for those prospecting a new career path, or for those who struggled in school and want a positive boost in their education.

I thank all the staff at Achievement Training for helping me jump-start my education, and more importantly, my future.

Jack’s Success with Traineeships! Read his story

During my time at Achievement Training, I enrolled on a Traineeship programme with Rita and alongside this I was doing my functional skills, Maths with Sue. I had the chance to do teaching assisting for my work experience but I didn’t have much interest in this role. Rita found me an office based role with a bear charity called Animals Asia, which I found more enjoyable. Rita was also helping me find an apprenticeship that would involve my Adult Care courses, which I was doing at the same time as the Traineeship, we had difficulty finding one around my interests. Until in August I was told about an adult support worker apprenticeship role with a company named Colebrook by Rita. I liked the sound of that so I applied and got an interview, it was my first interview so I was really nervous but Jill gave me the option to come in and practice for it and with the support of Jill and Sue, this led to me doing well in the interview and got I the job. I was struggling to find motivation to come in at times and having a negative mind set towards my maths and English, but with the help of the staff at Achievement Training I got over this and they gave me a more positive outlook and hope. My time at achievement training has been amazing because I was able to improve my knowledge in subjects I was interested in and all the people I got to meet, I am very thankful to my tutor Rita Melville she has given me the confidence to take my next step in life. 🙂
